The River’s Edge Brass Band is a British-style brass band.
The REBB was established to provide an opportunity for many of the area’s best brass players to face the challenges of playing the world’s most challenging music. Over the years the band has assumed the role of one of the area’s top musical ambassadors as it appears in many public concerts each year. These appearances range from summer park concerts to church services, to public service events in support of Veteran’s Day programs and the Green Beret Foundation.
Members of the REBB are a highly skilled group of brass and percussionist musicians who agree to volunteer their time to rehearse and perform. The majority of players have advanced studies on their instruments, and include engineers, health-care specialists, finance experts, and active and retired music educators. Members travel from throughout the Metropolitan Cincinnati region, the greater Dayton area, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana to attend rehearsals and performances.
The band rehearses Monday evenings at Armstrong Chapel in Indian Hill.
Our Mission
To demonstrate the highest standards of musical excellence in the performance of literature for British brass bands while providing inspiring, entertaining, and educational programs for listeners throughout the Tri-State area and beyond.
History:
The River’s Edge Brass Band was organized by Ron Lutterbie and conductor Dr. Stephen Lytle in 2014 as the Fillmore Philharmonic Brass Band. The band had several years of highly successful participation in the North American Brass Band Championships, Dublin Festival of Brass, and the Ohio Brass Arts Festival, while establishing itself as a popular performing concert band.
In 2018, the group was fortunate to secure the services of Dr. Kevin Holzman as conductor after Dr. Lytle took a position at West Virginia University. Dr. Holzman was the newly appointed Director of Wind Studies and Conducting at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music. He has brought a new vision and musical excitement to the band, and conducts the group in its 8-10 public performances each year.
In 2022 the band took on new leadership and focus, was renamed The River’s Edge Brass Band.
